Drop a GA4 export. Every row is checked against Google's published Default channel group definitions, so you can see which conditions your Unassigned traffic does and does not meet.
Each row is compared with Google's published Default channel group definitions. The report shows which conditions the values meet. It does not show how Google Analytics processed your data.
Your GA4 export is read inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and no Google Analytics access is needed.
Works with CSV downloads from Google Analytics 4. Not affiliated with Google.
Google's Default channel group is a list of rules on source, medium and campaign. This page runs your own export through that list in the order Google's page lists it, and prints what each value meets and does not meet.
Source and medium, or the combined source / medium column, plus optional campaign, sessions and channel. Each role is matched from the header text, and you can pick a different column.
Rules: Google Default channel group definitions, read 2026-11-05. Comparisons ignore case, as Google states. Spaces at the ends of a value are kept unless you switch that off.
The 10 example sites Google names are built in. Load your own list of search, social, video and shopping sites as a CSV or pasted text. Google's full list is not included.
Every row with its first rule met, the rules partly met and the value notes, plus a summary with the rule set date.
Built by Mulkern AI Systems. A rule comparison on your own GA4 export, with the conditions printed in full.
Not checked: Google's rules for Google Ads, Display & Video 360, Campaign Manager 360, Search Ads 360 and Merchant Center traffic, which use fields a source / medium export does not contain. Also from Mulkern AI Systems: GA4 Source / Medium Variant Merger.
